Mr.R Chandrasekaran has been in the hospitality business for over 20 years post completion of his graduation at Coimbatore.

The hospitality business is in-born in his blood through his forefathers. His forefather Mr.Shanmugasundaram started his first restaurant at Coimbatore namely “Bhuvaneshwari Restaurant” and following his footpath his son Mr.Meenakshisundaram established his hotel business by establishing various branches in Coimbatore, Karaikudi and Pudukottai.

Mr.R Chandrasekaran gained hands-on experience in various areas of the restaurant business since his teens and has in depth exposure to nuances of this business. This gave him the passion, drive and vision to establish his own brand of restaurant chain “Madurai Appu” since 2001 and drive the business in a professional way.

The Madurai Appu journey began in 2001 at Valasaravakkam by Mr. R Chandrasekaran whose passion for authentic Chettinad Cuisine and his vision to offer this aromatic food to Chennaites by creating everything on the menu in-house from the highest quality and freshest ingredients. It’s a promise to our guests of a fine culinary experience that promises to delight you, your family and friends at Madurai Appu.

Throughout these years of customer service, we have always believed in using the freshest ingredients and relying on home-cooking, rather than a 'frozen out of the box' routine. In our 3000 sq ft central kitchen, our staff are working from the very early hours of the morning preparing everything from scratch - from our famous Briyani, Chettinad dry and gravy varieties and much more. All this is done under the personal supervision of our head chef, who has been with us all these years. Our centralized ultra modern Kitchen enables us to maintain same cuisine taste in all our branches.

We realized early that offering such an exciting variety of great Chettinad, Chinese & South India cuisine requires additional space to host our growing customer base in Chennai. We started to serve our customer base at Mogappair from 2003. We consolidated our operations in these two locations and in 2008 established our ECR branch to serve IT Professionals working/residing in this area and to cater young populace who frequently visit this entertainment zone. We would say 2009 has been a catapult year for us with inauguration of T Nagar, Triplicane & Coonor branches in Commercial and Tourist zones.

We take great pride in preparing your food fresh when ordered and believe that to be one of the main reasons for our success. We strive to do the very best in every dish that we serve and are always there to listen to our customers. This has given us the confidence to have an aggressive expansion plans in the emerging cities of Tamil Nadu and grow our brand internationally.

Today, Madurai Appu restaurant chain is an emerging hot favorite eating joint for fine-dine experience of authentic Chettinad cuisine.
